Annette Capel: Introducing English Profile – what the CEFR really means for English

To join the webinar you will have to sign up as a guest at Cambridge English Teacher http://www.cambridgeenglishteacher.org/

Here are the details from CET:

Join us on 12 September, when Annette Capel discusses the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Annette is an ELT professional who specialises in testing and lexicography. She has co-authored several textbooks preparing students for Cambridge English exams and is also involved in writing exam papers at different CEFR levels.

The CEFR is becoming increasingly important in defining language proficiency levels. Being able to identify typical learner language at each level of the CEFR is therefore essential for teachers. English Profile is a collaborative community programme that is using corpus-informed research to develop language descriptors to support the CEFR.

In this session (the first of two), Annette will explain the research rationale for English Profile, outline the main projects currently underway, and introduce her own work on the English Vocabulary Profile, with a live web tour of the resource.
